Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI) The Bengal Pradesh Congress today sought the Centre's intervention into the Nandigram trouble alleging that the CPI(M)-led Left Front Government had failed to tackle the situation.

'' We have already sent a letter to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh calling for deployment of Central forces for restoring peace in Nandigram,'' Pradesh Congress Committee working president Pradip Bhattacharjee told newsmen here.

He alleged that a PCC delegation had gone to Nandigram to inquire into the trouble, but they were attacked by the CPI(M) cadres at Phulni More.

Mr. Bhattacharjee alleged that there was no let up in the trouble continuing in Nandigram for the past ten months even though Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee kept saying that the situation would be tackled politically.

Referring to the threat of a statewide bandh by the Trinamool Congress on October 31, he appealed to Ms.Mamata Banerjee to ensure that the PCC was able to organise all its programmes to be held on the day on the occasion of Indira Gandhi's death anniversary.
