Mah CM's son gets engaged to Aditi Ghorpade

Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's eldest son Amit was today engaged to TV actress Aditi Pratap Ghorpade at a simple ceremony at Hotel Taj here.

The couple exchanged the rings at 1950 hrs.

The bride is the daughter of Pratap and Shailaja Ghorpade, who hails from Bangalore, and have connections to Thanjavore Maratha kingdom.

A model and actor by profession Aditi has so far acted in serials like 'Saat Phere', 'Maan', 'Dil se Dosti', 'Love Marriage', 'Hatim Tai' and 'Rishton ki Dor'.

Amit, considered as the heir apparent of Chief Minister, is the chairman of Latur's Vikas Cooperative sugar factory and is also connected to many educational and social organisations.

The ceremony was attended by political bigwigs and other prominent personalities. Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Union Non-Conventional Energy Minister Vilasrao Muttemwar, Mumbai Congress president Gurudas Kamat, AICC general secretary Margaret Alva, Maharashtra Congress president Prabha Rau, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and senior cabinet colleagues were prominent among those who attended the ceremony, along with friends of both bride and groom.

Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule, industrialists Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla and Union Minister T Subbirami Reddy were also present on the occasion.

Mr Deshmukh's another son, Ritiesh, has a successful career in Bollywood, while his youngest son, Dhiraj, is pursuing his education.

Deshmukh completes three years as the Chief Minister in his second stint on November one.
