Former top RINL official sentenced to 2 yrs in DA case
New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) A special Chennai court has sentenced a former Regional Manager, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant to two years judicial custody and imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Handing down the order last week, the Judge also ordered confiscation of Rs 76 lakhs out of the recovered cash amounting to Rs 79,65,900 from manager B Razu Prasad's residence to the state treasury undrer section 452 of CrPC.
Two other persons V S Krishnan and T Murugesan, who helped the manager in concealing his property and pecuniary sources, also sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment and fine.
The fourth accused in the case, S Mohan Kumar, died during the trial.
CBI had registered a case against Razu Prasad's for amassing wealth, disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 82.31 lakhs in 2001.
During the investigation, the trio were found to have shielded Razu Prasad by making false claim about the recovered cash amount and had also produced false documents in support of the same, a CBI statement said here today.
