British Army Chief begins India's visit

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) After successful completiton of a joint exercise between elements of British and Indian Army in Leh recently, the United Kingdom Army Chief General Sir Richard Dannatt began his week-long official visit to India today.

The UK Royal Marines exercised with the elite Paratroopers of the Indian Army in Leh.

The visit by the UK's Chief of General Staff comes at a time when India's defence cooperation with British Army has been at an all time high, a Defence Ministry release said.

Besides discussing defence-related issues and prospects for future cooperation between the two Armies, the British Army Chief will visit Indian Army field formations in Jaipur, Srinagar and Agra and prestigious Army establishments, the release added.

The visit reconfirms the mutual trust and friendship between the two Armies and will provide the necessary fillip to on-going Army-to-Army Cooperation.
