UPA Govt failed to hike MSP: Venkaiah
Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) BJP Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had not responded positively to the pleas of Congress MPs and the TDP delegation to hike the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Paddy to Rs 1,000 per quintal.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Venkaiah said the UPA had ''failed'' to address the problems faced by the farmers in the country.
Mr Venkaiah also alleged that the UPA was not ''sincere'' in solving the problems of the paddy farmers. ''The real spirit of the Congress on solving the farmers' problems has come to light after the Prime Minister's response,'' he said.
''A movement against the government is the only solution to solve the farmers' problems.'' To a question, Mr Venkaiah said the BJP would go to the ''public court'' on the issue regarding the sting operation on post-Godra riots in Gujarat in 2002. People would teach the parties, who supported the sting operation, a lesson in the coming assembly elections in Gujarat.
