Chennai, Oct 28 (UNI) Opposition to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's continuance in office in the wake of Tehelka expose, gained momentum, with a Muslim political outfit in Tamil Nadu demanding intervention of Supreme Court into the issue.
In a statement here today, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) described as ''national shame'' Mr Modi's continuance as Chief Minister and said he had no locus standi to hold the post for perpetrating the post-Godhra carnage as exposed by the Tehelka.
TMMK President M H Jawahirullah said the Supreme Court should intervene and pass orders for the arrest of Mr Modi and grant him stringent punishment.
The Election Commission should also take steps to ban Mr Modi from contesting any election.
He said the TMMK would also stage a demonstration in the city on October 30 to press the demand.
