Bangalore, Oct 28 (UNI) BJP leader and the party in-charge for Karnataka affairs, Yashwant Sinha, today met Governor Rameshwar Thakur and informed him that his party, in alliance with JD(S), had the majority to form the next government in the state.
Emerging out of the Rajbhavan, he told newspersons that the two parties were again coming together and he had requested the Governor to invite the BJP designated Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa to form the next government.
"In democracy majority should be given a chance to rule and we are ready to prove it," he said.
He however said that the Governor did not give him any assurances.
Mr Sinha arrived in the city today to fianlise measures to pave the way for the first ever BJP-led government in South India.
Party vice-president Venkaiah Naidu had been camping since yesterday after JD(S) made a sudden decision to support BJP, after it pulled down the coalition government the two parties had ruled for the past 20 months, early this month.
The JD(S) party's decision followed after the breakaway move made by senior leader M P Prakash who, with the help of a section of the legislators, extended support to Congress to form the next government.
