Sidhu flagged off 'Run for Environment' in Patiala

Patiala, Oct 28 (UNI) Former India cricket star and current BJP Member of Parliament, Navjot Singh Sidhu flagged off a 7 Km, 'Run for Environment', in which about 500 men and women participants took part, here this morning.

The race which was organised by the State Bank of Patiala to mark its 90th anniversary and foundation day, started from Thapar Engineering College and culminated at NIS.

In the 7-Km race, among men's category, Ghamanda was at first position, Manoj Kumar was second) while Gurpal was at third position. In Women, Paramjit Kaur came first , Harinder Kaur was at second position while Sukhwinder Kaur was at third position. Ten consolation prizes were also given, five each in men and women's category.

Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 along with a trophy were given to men and women who stood first, second and third, and Rs 1000 each to the ten consolation prize winners.

During the the prize distribution function, a street play was also presented to highlight the environment pollution.
