Pondy to pay Deewali bonus to handicapped: Minister

Puducherry, Oct 28 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration will provide Deewali bonus of Rs 500 to handicapped persons in the Union Territory, Welfare Minister M Kandasamy said today.

Addressing a function here, Mr Kandasamy said due to financial constrains, the administration could not provide the amount immediately and efforts would be made to disburse the money by Pongal.

He said the administration had invited tenders for the supply of polyster clothes to Dalits under the free garments scheme.

As the tender process would take more time, the supply of clothes would get delayed, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, AIADMK state Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA urged the administration to disburse the Deepavali bonus for the handicapped on time.
