Ahmedabad, Oct 27 (UNI) India-Green, set a victory target of 331 runs in just 40 overs to quality for tomorrow's final, lost to India-Blue by a huge margine of 91 runs in the third day-night match of the Ultra Tech NKP Salve Challenger Trophy being played at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium at Motera near here late this evening.
Chasing a mamoth target of 331, India-Green meekly surrendered to get all out for 239 runs in 38.2 over to concede the defeat of 91 runs. Barring test discard India-Green's skipper Parthiv Patel and Rohit Sharma, who made individual contributions of 53 and 48 runs respectively, no other batsman showed the temperament needed for such an uphill task.
With this victory, India-Blue has qualified for tomorrow's final to be played at the same venue. They will take on India-Red led by Mohammed Kaif.
The Man-of-the-Match award was won by India-Blue captain Virendra Sehwag, who made a comeback to the Indian for the ODI series against Pakistan, for his enterprising knock of 75 runs in just 57 balls.
For India-Green, all its other noted batsmen displayed spineless performances as the top batting order comprising Yusuf Pathan, S Anirudha, M Tiwary and C A Pujana got out cheaply for a total contribution of 39 runs, thus leaving no scope for their side to make it to final.
