Hooda hails goldsmith community's role in development
Chandigarh, Oct 28 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the goldsmith community had played a significant role in the development of the country and the state.
He said during his visits to several foreign countries, he had noticed that the ornaments designed and made by the Indian goldsmiths had been very popular overseas.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Maharaja Ajmidh Jayanti function organised by Maharaja Ajmidh Swarankar Trust at Hisar.
He said that in the ancient times, the ornaments were made of flowers, leaves and bones but Maharaja Ajmidh gave a new direction to the society by making ornaments of gold.
Mr Hooda said the goldsmith community belonged to the backward classes of the state and the Congress had always accorded due regard to the backward and dalit sections of the society.
He said the Congress and the backward classes complemented each other. The Congress always came to power with the support of the backward classes and the party lost power whenever it did not get their support.
