New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) Birsamunda Vidyapitha, Rourkela, thrashed their opponent NCC Directorate (Punjab) 4-1 to book their semi-final berth in the super league of the 25th Nehru Sub Junior boys' hockey tournament here today.
Earlier, Mata Gujri Public School (Punjab) beat S S High School (Jharkhand) 4-1, while Malwa Khalsa senior school (Ludhiana) beat GRM senior school, (Delhi) 3-0.
David Minz of Rourkela scored a brace in an one sided match against Directorate. The goal scoring though started by Ravinder Singh of Directorate school who netted the ball in the 15th minute.
That goal propmted a backlash from the Vidyapitha as they went on the offensive straight away scoring the equalizer in one minute later, through the effort of Joseph Toppo (16th min).
After that it was all Vidyapitha show as David Minz score in the 33th minute while James J Munda score the other goal. The second half saw Minz scoring again in the 51st min to complete the tally.
In the other match Mata Gujri Public School scored the first goal, of the match, mainly to the effort of Amardeep Singh in the 23rd minute after a sedate start. S S High School though struck back immediately in the 26th minute through the effort of Vinod Horo in the 26th minute.
Jaswinder Pal then scored a brace (29th and 32nd min) to give the Punjab school the lead going into the lemon break.
Love Anmol started the procedings for the Punjab school scoring in the 53rd minute to complete the tally for the Mata Gujri Public School. The Jharkhand school though tried very hard and even mannaged to score on goal in the 59th minute through Nirdosh Horo but could not prevent the defeat.
In an another match Malwa Khalsa senior school beat GRM senior school, Nangloi 4-1.
For the Khalsa school Taran Deep Singh, Kulbir Singh score one goal each while Satbir Singh scored two goals for the Khalsa team.
The lone goal that came from G R M schol was netted by Manish in the 51st minute.
