CPI condemns Jharkhand massacre; says can be counter-productive
New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The CPI today condemned the massacre of 18 persons, including the son of former chief minister Babulal Marandi, by naxalites in Jharkhand, and said ''such actions cannot advance any cause and are counter-productive''.
Describing the ''wanton killing'' as shocking, the CPI urged the naxalites to realise that such actions in the name of targeting the ''class enemy'' and policemen only lead to the killing of innocent poor people and a few selected public figures.
The Party also conveyed its condolences to Mr Marandi and the families of other victims.
On early Saturday, naxalites, in para-military uniform, gunned downed 18 persons, including Mr Marandi's son Anup, and injured 13 others while firing indiscriminately on people watching a cultural function, organised after a four-day soccer match, in Chilkhari village of Jharkhand's Giridih district.
