New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The permanent secretariat of the Bureau of Asia Pacific Ministers' Conference on Housing and Urban Development (APMCHUD) will be set up in New Delhi.
This was decided at the Bureau's 2nd Meeting at Amman, Jordan yesterday, an official release said here today.
Speaking at the meeting where she was the chairperson, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Sailja stressed that India looked forward to working closely with the other member countries from the Asia-Pacific and other regional and global establishments towards fulfilling the initiatives identified in the Delhi Declaration.
She said the countries in the egion faced common challenges in their goal of achieving a better rquality of life for the citizens.
''A synergic approach would go a long way in addressing these challenges of housing and urban development sector more comprehensively,'' she added.
The meeting was hosted by Jordan Minister for Public Works and Housing Hosni Abu Ghelda.
Iran's Vice-Minister for Housing Manouchehr Khajedalcee and representatives from China, Azabaijan and Malaysia participated in the meeting.
