Punjab, Maharashtra, Delhi, HP, ATC, Chandigarh in quarters

Chandigarh, Oct 27 (UNI) Punjab (Group A), Haryana (group B), Maharashtra (group C), Delhi (Group D), Himachal Pradesh (group E), hosts Chandigarh (group F) and Association for Twenty20 Cricket (India) XI qualified for quarter-finals of the inaugural Under-15 National Twenty20 Cricket Championship here today.

The last spot in the quarter-final knock out stage will be filled up tomorrow with the best losers team.

The quarter-final line-up is: Group A winners Punjab vs Group C winners Maharashtra, Group B winners Haryana vs Group D winners Delhi, Group E winners vs Group G winners ATC XI and Group F winners Chandigarh vs Best Losers.

On the third day tomorrow, four league matches and two quarter-finals will be played. Haryana will face Delhi and Himachal will challenge ATC in the quarter-finals. The remaining quarter-finals will be held on October 29.

In a low scoring match at Punjab Engineering College ground in Sector 12, Maharashtra defeated Rajasthan by 10 wickets. Batting first, Rajasthan were bundled out for 32 in 18.1 overs. No batsman could reach even the double figure.

Sunil Deshpandey (3 for 3), Pawan Powar (2 for 9) and Kamlesh Khlkari (2 for 4) were the most successful bowlers for Maharashtra.

In reply, Maharashtra took 3.5 overs to achieve their target by scoring 35 without any loss. Vishal Tarade (22) and Chaitanya Patil (2) remained not out. It was Maharashtra's second successive win.

Association for Twenty20 Cricket (India) continued their winning streak as they routed Mumbai by ten wickets. Gaurav Tandon (44, 8x4s, 1x6) and Devrath (52, 8x4s, 2x6s) put on 105 runs for the unbroken first wicket partnership in reply to Mumbai's 101 all out.

Dayaraj (16), Raj K Bora (10) and Audumbar (12) were the main batsmen for Mumbai.

Brilliant knocks by opener Abhilash (94, 17x4s) and Shrestha (not out 86, 18x4s) helped Chandigarh post the highest total of the tournament so far. Chandigarh scored a mammoth innings of 288 for 3 in 20 overs against Dadar Nagar Haveli who were skittled out for 44.

Ankur (3 for 3), Shubham (2 for 18) and Gaurav (2 for 10) wrecked the Dadar Nagar Haveli innings.

Punjab defeated Tamil Nadu by 54 runs. Punjab scored 137 with Jasbir Singh top scoring with 36. Akshay Sharma contributed 24.

In other matches, Himachal (163 for 3, Ved Dutta 52, 6x4s) and Aman (38, 3x4s, 1x6) defeated Uttar Pradesh (112, Mohd Shaid 30) by 51 runs.

Haryana (177, Rahul 39, Dharminder 31 and Ashish 34) routed Pondicherry (56, J Jagdeshwaran 15, Ravi 3 for 17) by 121 runs.
