Parliamentary Committee to visit Nagaland today

Kohima, Oct 27 (UNI) Parliamentary Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, under the Chairmanship of Ratilal Kalidas Varma, will arrive here today.

They will be visiting Nagaland on a three-day visit to review the welfare schemes for the Scheduled Tribes in the state.

Official sources said members of the committee will reach Kohima from Dimapur by road this afternoon. They will meet Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalhuma and other State Government officials at the Secretariat Complex today evening and will discuss socio-economic conditions of the Scheduled Tribes of the state.

Tomorrow, the committee members will meet the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Employees Welfare Association of Oriental Insurance Company Limited here and later they will hold discussions with the management of company regarding representation of SC and ST in services. On Monday, the Members will leave for Dimapur on their way to Kolkata.

The members of the committee include 13 members from Lok Sabha, five members from Rajya Sabha and a five-member team from the Secretariat, led by its Director Gopal Singh.
