"Operation Gaja" turns successful for AP Forest Dept

Srikakulam, Oct 27 (UNI) The ''Operation Gaja'' launched by Andhra Pradesh Forest Department to trap a herd of wild elephants, that wrought havoc in this district for last several days, turned out to be a success.

District Forest Officer Ramana Babu today said of the nine elephants, five were caught and the remaining four would be trapped soon.

He said the experts, brought to catch the elephants, had rounded up the remaining elephants.

Andhra Pradesh Forest Minister S Vijayarama Raju had visited the scene to take stock of the situation, he added.
