NYC office bearer murdered in Kamptee

Nagpur, Oct 27 (UNI) Afzal Hussain, president of the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC) unit of Kamptee township was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified assailants.

According to the police, Hussain (27) was assaulted by a group of men armed with sharp weapons, when he was on his way home in Kamptee, about 15 km from here, late last night.

The assailants fled from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness, police said.

Hussain, who was to get married on November 6, sustained grievous injuries on his head and stomach, and succumbed to his wounds at a hospital later, they said.

The miscreants also assaulted Hussain's younger brother Faisan (25) when he tried to intervene, police said.

No arrest has been made so far.

The killing in Kamptee comes close on the heels of the murder of a Shiv Sena member of Nagpur Zilla Parishad (ZP), Gopal Lohabare (38), in village Tarsa in the district, about 47 km from here, on August 19 last.
