NGOs should encourage girls to be self-dependent: Asha Hooda

Chandigarh, Oct 27 (UNI) The social welfare organisations should not confine themselves to get the girls belonging to the poor families married but also make these girls self-dependent so that they could lead a happily married life, Haryana Child Welfare Council Vice-Chairperson and wife of Haryana Chief Minister, Ms Asha Hooda today said.

Ms Hooda stated this at the prize distribution and book release function organised by Manav Seva Samiti at Faridabad today.

She said that the girls should be imparted technical and vocational education besides formal education so that they could become self-reliant.

Ms Hooda said that some people due to their illiteracy and backwardness were unable to understand the importance of education in life. "The social welfare organisations should come forward to provide education to the children of such parents." On the occasion, Ms Hooda released two books written and published by the Chairman of Shivratana Cancer Society, Dr P N Dubey. She also honoured the Chairman of the Samittee, Mr Arun Bajaj and its members Mr Anoop Choudhary, Mr Kailash Sharma, Mr V S Choudhary, Mr M L Sharma, Mr Anil Arora, Mr Jagdish Lal Bhatia and Mr Bijendra Ahlawat.
