Minister asked to withdraw circular on action against strikers
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Centre of Indian Trade Unions today took strong objection to a Government circular asking all Ministries to take punitive action against those employees who participate in the nationwide strike on October 30 and demanded its withdrawal.
In a letter to Mr Suresh Pachauri, the Union Minister of Personnel and Public Grievances, Mr M K Pandhe said the strike notice was served by the unions sufficiently in advance alongwith the charter of demands, but the Centre did not invite the unions to discuss the matters raised in the charter of demands, with a view to settle all the outstanding issues amicably.
Instead, it issued the circular which asks the Ministries not to sanction casual leave of employees and make all efforts to break the strike, he said.
He warned the Government that if it insisted on its anti-working class policies, the CITU will rally behind the employees in their hour of trial.
