Kolkata, Oct 27 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today threatened of calling a 12-hour statewide bandh on October 31 to protest the state government's " failure" to bring the Nandigram culprits to book.

Addressing newsmen here, Ms Banerjee said, " Though I have apprised the President, The Prime Minister and the West Bengal Governor of the Nandigram episode, nothing has been done so far.

Eight months have elapsed since the March 14 killing, but still now none has been meted out punishment. " She alleged that even those, who had been arrested by the CBI, had been released.

" The CPI(M)-backed goons have been indulging in firing from the Khejuri side, " she said and alleged that more than 50 people had lost their lives so far at Nandigram and there was no trace of a number of dead bodies.

Ms Banerjee said the CPI(M)-led Left Front government was bereft of any humanity and demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee.

She warned that if the ongoing violence at Nandigram was not stopped within an hour, she would call a 12-hour statewide bandh on October 31 and bring the life in the state to standstill.
