Dera chief asked to appear in special CBI court

Ambala, Oct 27: The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Special CBI Magistrate R N Bharati today directed the Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to appear in the special CBI court on November 17.

The Dera chief Gurmeet Singh, who appeared in the court along with his counsels, was handed over copies of challans and was directed to appear in the court of special CBI Judge R K Saini for framing of charges and arguments in two cases of murder and one of rape.

The Dera Chief, who is facing murder cases of a Sirsa based journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati and former Dera Manager Ranjit Singh of Kurukshetra district besides rape of a sadhvi, was granted regular bail in all the three cases by the special CBI court on October 25.

Later, the Dera chief was today not allowed to address his followers who had gathered in thousands at the HUDA Grounds here to have glimpse of their guru. The administration had taken the decision in view of the security reasons and to avoid any untoward incident.
