Mumbai, Oct 26 (UNI) Shiv Sena today demanded immediate arrest of Abu Asim Azmi, MP and Mumbai unit chief of Samajwadi party, for his derogatory remarks against Bal Thackeray during their 'Nyay' rally here.
A 12-member Sena delagation, headed by party MLA, Diwakar Rawte called on Joint Police Commissioner, Vijay Kamble and demanded the arrest of Azmi.
''While addresisng the rally, Azmi spoke about blackening the face of our supremo Thackerayji and also made certain other vitriolic remarks against the Hindu community, and we feel that such remarks could vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the city. So we demand his arrest,'' Anil Parab, Sena MLC told UNI this evening.
Rawte said police assured them that they would look into the matter.
During the Nyay Rally yesterday, Azmi had also said that Muslims believe in peaceful co-existance, but if they were provoked, they will not sit silently.
