Indore, Oct 26 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today inked a memorandum of understanding with SKS Ispat and Power Limited for setting up a Rs 4,400-crore, 1,000-MW power plant in Chhindwara district.
The deal was signed this evening by the company's Managing Director Anil Gupta and government officials in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a two-day Global Investors' Meet that got underway today in Madhya Pradesh's commercial capital.
The company has a power plant at Raigarh in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
''We are already in possession of a coal block, in Chhindwara, with a deposit of 260 million tonnes. It was earlier planned that the reserve would be used for the Raigarh unit but the company has now been allotted a reserve there as well,'' Mr Gupta told reporters.
