Una, Oct, 26 (UNI) The State Congress spokesman O P Rattan today invited the BJP for an open debate on the issue of performance by the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.
Addressing media persons here today, he countered the BJP allegations that the four-and-a-half-year-long Congress tenure was marred with non-performance.
Mr Rattan said hydel power generation had received a major boost during the period, while road network, health and education infrastructure had received a fillip during the said period.
He said 40 per cent of the budget was spent on social welfare schemes and the fact was appreciated by the Union government in the form of various national level awards to the state government in different sectors.
Referring to Una district, the Congress spokesman said all major roads were spruced up, the Swan river Integrated watershed project and the second phase of the Swan Rive Channelisation project were started.
An undergraduate college in Bangana and a Law college in Santoshgarh constituency were started, while four private colleges were taken over that included Amb, Daulatpur, Bhatoli and Beetan colleges, and added that an important bridge over the Swan river to link Una with Haroli had been sanctioned.
