Complaint filed against publishers of pamphlets in Guj

Ahmedabad, Oct 26 (UNI) The District Election Officer of Ahmedabad today filed a complaint against the publishers, who printed pamphlets that may disturb communal harmony in the state.

According to the State Election Office, a complaint has been filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate for violation of the model code of conduct.

The model code of conduct, that came into force from October 10, states that there shall be no appeal to caste or communal feelings for securing votes, and Mosques, Churches, Temples or other places of worship should not be used as forum for election propaganda.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission directed the CEO of Gujarat to file a complaint under section 127 A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, before the Chief Judicial Magistrate against the printers/ publishers, who printed the pamphlets, and person(s) who got the same printed.

The CEO has also submitted a compliance report related to the matter to the Election Commission as directed by the Commission.
