Three chain snatchers arrested in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 25 (UNI) Three chain snatchers were arrested and gold ornaments worth Rs five lakh were recovered from their possession here, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Parminder Singh told mediapersons that a special team was constituted to bust the gang of chain snatchers.

'' The gang used to operate on motorbikes and remained active mainly in isolated areas,''the SSP said, adding that on a tip off, a special nakka was laid down yesterday and all the three accused were apprehended by the police.

Gold ornaments worth Rs 5,50,000 and a stolen motor bike had been recovered from them.

The accused had been identified as Jagmohan Singh, resident of Kotli Arjun Singh, Paramjeet Singh and Sulkhan Singh, both residents of R S Pura.

Meanwhile a goldsmith Madan Lal, resident of R S Pura had also been arrested for buying stolen gold ornaments from the accused,the SSP added.
