Kathmandu, Oct 25 (UNI) The Nepal Government has vowed stringent action against acts bringing ''disrepute to the nation'', including burning the national flag.
''If anyone or group was found to be involved in defaming the national flag, the symbol of national unity, the government would take stern action against such reactionaries after taking help from all Nepali people,'' the Home Ministry said in a statement.
The statement came in response to incidents of flag burning by miscreants at Siraha and Saptari districts of Terai region.
''The government will not spare anyone who is found involved in such unscrupulous activities -- directly or indirectly -- and the government is committed to bringing all those guilty under the purview of law,'' it said.
''The government is committed to institutionalising the democratic system after safeguarding national unity, integrity and sovereignty and people from all groups and ethnicity have extended cooperation in the effort,'' the statement added.
The Ministry has also issued directives to the local and police administration to take necessary action against the perpetrators of the crime.
