Lucknow, Oct 25 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh police IG Devesh Kishore Panda, who calls himself 'Doosri Radha' today once again played to the gallery by dancing in front of newspersons outside a family court.
Panda had appeared before a family court here to pay Rs 35,500 as maintenance to his wife Veena Panda as the couple are living separately following the former IPS officer's claim that now he was married to Lord Krishna.
Soon after the hearing was adjourned, Panda came out dancing to the tune of 'Hare Krishna' before the media present. ''I am ready to make up with Veena...she is my bachhi (daughter),'' he told reporters.
The former Inspector General who had been dressing up and living for over a decade as 'Radha', the beloved of Lord Krishna, had charges against him of breaching the police dress code.
A probe carried out by the Uttar Pradesh police into the controversy arising out of the then IG (Rules and Manuals) D K Panda, a 1971 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, living life as 'Radha' for the past 15 years, had found him guilty of breaching the police dress code and service rules by appearing in public as a woman.
Panda was soon after allowed to take voluntary retirement.
He was due to retire in 2007. He created ripples in the government hierarchy by turning up at the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court dressed as a woman a couple of years ago.
The outlandish behaviour of the former IPS officer had also irked his wife, Veena Panda, who had succeeded in getting a monthly maintainance from him, following an order of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
