Cabinet approves convention on Enforced Disappearance

New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its ex-post facto approval for the signing of an international convention that protects people from enforced disappearance.

India had signed the 'International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance' at a special ceremony organised by the French government in Paris on February 6.

This was done with the approval of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and it opened the convention for its signing by various countries, Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters.

The Cabinet also approved signing of the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation between India and Morocco.

Mr Dasmunsi said the agreement would support and encourage the exchange of views and cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development between the two government agencies, academic institutions and enterprises.

He said the agreement would be effective for an unlimited period.
