AMU to carry out US Embassy's English proficiency programme
NewDelhi, Oct 25 (UNI) Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been selected by the US Embassy as on education service provider for enhancing proficiency in English for 100 underprivileged AMU school children.
Regional English Language Office Director at the Embassy Richard A Boyum conveyed the decision to AMU Vice Chancellor P K Abdul Azia during a meeting today.
The Embassy has allocated more than 35,000 dollars to this programme which would be carried out by the University's UGC Academic Staff college.
The programme will be open to 14-18 year old non-elite students for a period of two years with each student receiving 180 hours from November 2007.
