Woman seeks militant help to get her husband killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 24 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have foiled a plot of a woman to get her husband killed with the help of militants.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sumbal, Harmeet Singh said the relationship between Shaheena and her husband Bashir Ahmed, both residents of Ajas in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, had got strained in the recent past.

Accordingly, she hatched a plot to get her husband killed with the help of militants, he added.

Dr Harmeet Singh said she was in constant touch with a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant, Abu Kitar, with whom she hatched a conspiracy to get her husband murdered with the help of two other people.

As a part of the plot, the woman persuaded her husband, who originally hailed from Kreeri in Baramulla district, to accompany her to Vijpyara, Sumbal where two more people, Fayaz Ahmed and Abdul Hamid were waiting to murder Ahmed, he added.

However, the SDPO said before the two could carry out their plan, the police apprehended them. One pistol and a grenade were seized from their possession, he added.

Dr Singh said the police arrested the woman and registered a case in this regard. The police were further probing the matter and the level of involvement of the woman in militant activities was being ascertained, he added.
