Security beefed up in Vizag Dist after Maoists attack
Visakhapatnam, Oct 24 (UNI) Security has been stepped up in all Maoist-affected areas in Visakhapatnasm District following the killing of a former village secretary in G K Veedhi mandal by the banned CPI Maoist cadres early today.
According to rural Police here, a 20-member Maoists group slit the throat of 45-year-old V Nageswara Rao outside his house branding him as a police informer.
While trying to resist the attack by his family members, one of them, who was seriously injured was admitted to the Government Hospital at Paderu, police added.
Following the incident, a high alert was sounded in all the 11 agency mandals in the district and tribal areas of neighbouring Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, police said.
