New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) Minister of Communications and Information Technology A Raja today said the country's IT exports will touch the 80 billion dollar mark by the end of 2011.
''Assuming that we grow at an average rate of 30 per cent per annum, our IT exports' turnover will touch 80 billion dollars by the end of 2011,'' said Mr Raja while addressing a conference.
The country's IT exports were a few million dollars in the early 90's and now it is around 37 billion dollars, he said.
''We are confident that our exports will boom despite the perceived odds against outsourcing and increasing competition,'' the Minister added.
He said the government is considering to continue the income tax exemption to IT companies.
''We are taking up the issue of continuance of exemptions available under...to IT companies operating under the existing scheme of the Software Technology Parks of India at the highest level,'' Mr Raja said.
