Haryana records 7 % increase in tax collection

Chandigarh, Oct 24 (UNI) The Haryana Excise and Taxation Department has registered an increase of 7.25 per cent in tax collection up to September by collecting a total revenue of Rs 4680 crore as against Rs 4364 crore during the corresponding period last year.

Stating this here today, Excise and Taxation Minister Birender Singh said these taxes included Value Added Tax, Central Sales Tax, LADT, PGT and Entertainment Tax.

He said in addition to many other concessions announced by the state government, the rate of interest on delayed payment of tax was reduced from 1.5 per cent to one per cent up to 90 days and from three per cent to two per cent after 90 days.

He said several exemptions and concessions were given to the farmers, traders and industrialists by the present Government.

Committees were constituted to redress the grievances of dealers.

A State Level Consultative Committee was also constituted which was represented by prominent persons of trade and industry.

It met quarterly, and after hearing the problems of the trade and industry, forwarded its recommendations to the government which took necessary action to solve the problems.

Mr Birender Singh said the 'Amne-Samne' programme had also been re-introduced. Under this programme the Joint Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Range) held quarterly meetings with the officers of the department and the representatives of trade and industry to solve the problems amicably through discussions.
