Kohima, Oct 24 (UNI) The Joint Forum of the Gaon Burahs (GBs) and Dobhashis (DBs) has called upon the underground outifts to stop bloodshed and fratricidal killing in Nagaland.
The GBs and DBs met at a non-political peace initiative meeting at Dimapur yesterday, where the leaders of the tribal Hohos (traditional apex bodies), NGOs and other mass based organisation spoke and pointed out the futility of killing among the brothers.
They suggested that tribalism and favouritism must be eradicated from the psyche of every Nagas, if they wanted to achieve a goal of peaceful co-existence.
Nagaland's Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner T N Mannen appealed to the Nagas to change their mindset ''and come together irrespective of caste and creed to bring about peace.'' Naga Hoho speaker H K Zhimomi said ethnic violence was the biggest problem in the Naga society.
