Five new FM radio channels become operative
New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) With the commissioning of five more FM radio channels during last month, the number of fully operationalised private FM radio stations in the country has gone up to 120.
The five new channels, which were operationalised, are: MY FM (Synergy Media) for Ajmer; Radio Dhamal (BAG Infotainment) for Muzaffarpur and Dhule; BIG FM (Adlabs Films) for Ajmer; and Radio Mirchi (ENIL) for Kolhapur.
The government also received an amount of Rs 167.82 lakhs as license fee from private FM Radio Broadcasters during September.
The phase-II policy of deregulating government control over FM stations allows private FM channels in 91 towns and a total of 338 frequencies via auction.
The government had also recently indicated that it was not averse to the idea of allowing broadcast of hard news on FM radio channels.
