BPCL to introduce SMS Refill Booking System
Kochi, Oct 24 (UNI) Bharat Petroleum Coporation Limited (BPCL) is planning to launch an All India Refill Booking System through SMS,in the immediate future.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the SMS Refill Booking Facility for distributors here, BPCL Regional LPG Manager (South) K P Chandy said, ''The company is in talks with service provider BSNL to launch an All India SMS Refill Booking Facility through one number in three to four months time.'' Presently, different numbers were assigned to various distributors and the customers could book cylinders through SMS any time, including late nights and holidays.
The facility was introduced on a pilot basis in 12 to 15 towns and cities across the country including Nadapuram, Vadagara and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Madurai in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore in Karnataka evoking good repsonse from the customers.
On receiving the message for refill booking, the computer at the distributor's end would send a reply confirming the booking with refill order number and expected delivery time of the cylinder.
On BPCL's Bharat Metal Cutting Gas (BMCG), which was introduced in the market two years back, he said its sales had touched 1,000 MT across the country with the Southern Region accounting for 400 MT.
''The company is planning to increase BMCG, which gives 40 per cent efficiency to customers, sale to 1,000 MT in Southern Region this fiscal,'' he noted.
