Anara Gupta files Rs 2 crore suit against police

Jammu, Oct 24 (UNI) A local court has issued fresh summons against two police constables following a suit for recovery of Rs two crore filed by former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta for alleged illegal confinement, sources said today.

Principal district judge (Jammu) J R Kotwal, on a suit by complainant Anara Gupta for illegal confinement for a period of 11 days, issued fresh summons against constables Bansi Lal and Darbari Lal.

The court has fixed December 12 as the next date of hearing.

''The suit has been filed by former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta for keeping her in illegal confinement and subjecting her to severe physical as well as mental torture and thereafter formally arresting her in a false and frivolous case which damaged and defamed her reputation,'' the sources said.

A case under sections 292/293/7 (Cinematography Act), 4 pita, 6/7 IT Act was registered at police station (women cell) against the petitioner.

Meanwhile, Anara's brothers -- Satyanibeshi, Kumar Sambhav and Kumar Sangam -- also filed damage suits to the tune of Rs 5 lakh each in the court of law, the sources said.
