New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) World's largest specciality bike maker Trek Bicycle today launched its two new high-end bicycles -- FUEL 30 and Five Star Intra -- in the Indian market, targeting adventure enthusiasts.
The 'Five Star Intra' costs at Rs 14,235, while the 'FUEL 30' comes with a price tag of Rs 33,156. The bicycles will be sold through its only distributor FireFox Bikes Pvt Ltd.
''We are overwhelmed to launch our new bikes here in India and expect the market to grow,'' Trek International Territory Manager Pete St Onge told reporters here.
Speaking about the plans to intensify the US-based Trek presence in the country, its domestic partner FireFox Managing Director Shiv Inder Singh said, ''Presently, we are launching the starting model under the full suspension and BMX series, and expect to bring more models in the next phase.'' He said the company is targeting a sale of 60,000 units in the next four years.
''The company expects to increase the sales growth to 60,000 bikes a year by 2011 from present 12,000,'' Mr Singh said.
FireFox last year tied up with Trek Bicycle to sell its products in the Indian market.
The new models will be available at all the FireFox's 22 outlets across the company, Mr Singh said.
About 12 million bicycles are sold every year in the country, of which niche products stand 5-7 per cent, he said.
