Kolkata, Oct 23 (UNI) Continuing with its investigation into the death of Rizwanur Rehman, CBI sleuths interrogated Priyanka Todi, wife of the deceased computer graphics teacher here today.
CBI sources said they got some 'valuable' information from Priyanka, daughter of businessman Ashok Todi, who had been accused of murdering Rizwanur.
''We have interrogated Priyanka at a third place at the request of the Todi family. She has not been interrogated at her house or at the CBI office,'' CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar said.
According to the CBI sources, Priyanka cooperated fully with the officers and answered all the questions during the three-hour session to give an account of her relationship with Rizwanur, their marriage and the family trouble that broke out in the aftermath.
''We are very pleased with the cooperation of Priyanka and she has helped a lot in the investigation,'' Mr Kumar said.
The CBI has so far interrogated more than 20 people in the last four days and obtained various information.
In a separate session, officials of the agency also questioned three uncles of Rizwanur at its CGO complex office in Salt Lake and reportedly asked them to explain the reason for suspecting Ashok Todi as being behind the alleged foul play.
CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, who was leading a seven-member team of the special crime branch, also met officials of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the city police headquarters of Lalbazar to obtain from them certain findings.
Mr Kumar later left for Delhi with a copy of the post-mortem report of Rizwanur, whose body was found beside the railway tracks in North Kolkata on September 21 barely a month after his marriage with Priyanka against the wishes of the Todi family.
Informed sources said the CBI was trying to delve into all possible aspects and gather information that could provide cluesas to how it all happened and why.
The CBI, which has started a case of murder against Ashok Todi, is carrying out the investigation following an order of Calcutta High Court, forcing CID to wind up its probe. A separate investigation by a retired High Court judge is, however, on.
Yesterday CID officials interrogated Pradip Todi, brother of industrialist Ashok Todi, a few members of the family of Rizwanur Rehman and one of his friends, who happened to be a witness to the marriage.
Divided in separate groups, the central agency officers also talked to the students and staff members of the office where Rizwanur used to work.
Rizwanur's death triggered public outcry leading to the removal of five police officers, including city police commissioner Prasun Mukherjee.
