Power situation in Bihar likely to be grim
Kahalgaon, Oct23 (UNI) Bihar is likely to face one of the worst power crisis in the coming days as one unit each of Talcher and Kahalgaon thermal power stations, under the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), have been closed down from today for annual maintenance.
NTPC sources said here that one unit each of Talcher and Kahalgaon with 210 MW and 500 MW had been closed down from today affecting the power supply in Bihar.
'' The closure of Talcher unit will cripple the power scenario in Bihar as it supplies 177 MW to the state while Kahalgaon unit meets the requirement of 33 MW, which together would result in a shortfall of 210 MW,'' the sources added.
''Both the units will start functioning after one month'', sources said adding Bihar was getting 900 MW of power but it would decrease to 700 MW till the maintenance of these units was over.
