North East Monsoon active in coastal AP
Hyderabad, Oct 23 (UNI) The Northeast Monsoon was active in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours even as the Southwest Monsoon withdrew from the state.
Various Numerical weather prediction models suggest formation of low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal around October 27, according to Indian Meteorological Department.
Northeast Monsoon rainfall commenced over Rayalaseema yesterday while isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana, IMD officials here said.
Rain or thundershowers were likely at most places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 48 hours.
Isolated heavy rainfall was likely in the districts of Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool of Rayalaseema during next 48 hrs.
The stations which recorded heavy rainfall in cm are Kandukur (9), Kavali (8), Kakinada (7).
The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm in Amalapuram, Kuppam, Polavaram, Seetharamapuram and Sullurpet (3 each), Ongole, Atmakur, Tada, Venkatagiri Town, Vinjamur, Madhira, Porumamilla and Yemmiganur (2 each).
