Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) Medium pacer Swapnil More of Khandu Rangnekar XI ripped through the Vijay Merchant XI batting line up, taking four for 36 after the latter opted to bat after the toss on the first day of the four-day 22nd Sportstar Trophy U-19 MCA Selection Trial Tournament at Karnataka SA ground, Cross Maidan here today.
Merchant XI were bowled out for 106 and in reply at the close of play Rangnekar XI had replied with 101 for three wickets.
In fact, Merchant XI at one time were 66 for eight but managed to reach three figures through lower order bat Pratik Denge who made 37 runs.
In reply, Rangnekar XI opener Chandrasekhar Thate (50) and Rohan Kerkar (31 not out) put of 45 runs for the third wicket to put their team in a strong position.
In another final round match at Elf Vengsarkar Academy Oval which started after lunch due to a wet wicket, Vijay Manjrekar XI reached 140-4 after opting to bat by close of play.
Opener Siddhesh Ramani (35 runs) and Gaurav Chavan (38 not out) were among the runs against Dattu Phadkar XI, for whom left-arm medium-pacer Balkrishna Shirke took 2-35.
