Minister's call on Indiramma Programme

Hyderabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Energy, Coal and Minority Welfare Mohd Ali Shabbir today called for the active participation of Congress workers in the Indiramma Programme taken up by the govenrment to help the poor in the state.

Addressing chairmen and members of 'Intinta Indiramma' Committees here, Mr Shabbir said the state government had taken up several welfare programmes like construction of houses and distribution of ration cards and pensions to all eligible poor under the scheme.

He said ward members, chairmen and members of the committees should undertake door-to-door survey to identify eligible poor below poverty line to sanction houses and pensions to them.

The government had also taken up developmental activities in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad at a cost of Rs 27,000 crore.

The government had identified 27 places in the city to take up construction of houses under Indiramma.

The government had targeted to provide loans worth Rs 200 crore to Self Help Groups at the lowest interest rate of 20 paise in the city for financial progress of women.

It had already taken up measures to provide drinking water to the city daily.

Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee Danam Nagender asked the party workers to explain the developmental activities to the people and gain their confidence.

He urged ward and committee members to identify eligible poor people for recommending their names to the government for sanction of houses and pensions.
