Mumbai, Oct 23 (UNI) Investigating Officer Santosh Mogare today said that accused Pravin Mahajan had come to the Worli police station to give his statement regarding the murder of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan on April 22, last year.

Deposing before the special court of Additional Session Judge S P Davare, who is presiding over the Pramod Mahajan murder case, the witness said he instructed his subordinate officer to record Pravin's statement and then arrest him.

Replying to another query raised by the Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, the Investigating Officer said he had also instructed an officer to conduct a search operation at Pravin's residence alongwith a panch.

He said another officer was sent to the P D Hinduja Hospital to record the statement of Pramod and his wife Rekha. However, he was not able to take their statements because Pramod was being operated and Rekha was not in a position to give any statement. Earlier, one Prabhu Jagdale, a panch witness, was examined. He had identified the clothes of the accused.

It may be recalled on April 22, 2006, Pravin had fired three rounds at his elder brother Pramod, who later succumbed to his injuries on May 3, 2006.
