New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Germany favours broad-basing of G-4 by including some African countries like South Africa to give the grouping more say for permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

German Ambassador to India, Bernd Muetzelburg, today said the issue was much more complicated than it was anticipated.

''We have to work together for broad-basing the concept,'' he said at a press conference organised to announce the State visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to India.

He said the G-4 should incorporate African countries like South Africa.

The G-4, comprising India, Germany, Japan and Brazil, is contesting for parmanent membership of the UN Security Council.

It would be very wrong if the countries were divided, he said while reiterating Germany's support for India's candidature.
