Nandigram, Oct 23 (UNI) After a four-day lull during the puja holidays, the CPI (M) and Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) activists today exchanged fire between Khejuri and Nandigram as fresh clashes broke out.
Confirming that fresh clashes have struck once again in Takapora and Kamardiha villages of Khejuri and Nandigram respectively, East Midnapore District SP G Srinivas today informed that three CPI(M) supporters Bimal Khatua, Shantanu Sen and Khokon Barik received gunshot wounds and had been admitted to Kamardiha Health Centre.
However, Nandigram CPI(M) Secretary Himansu Das has alleged that four of their party supporters had been injured and about a hundred fled from their homes this morning when BUPC activists attacked them.
Meanwhile, Nandigram BUPC Secretary Sk Sufian counter alleged that one of their supporters had been wounded in the firing and taken to Nandigram hospital.
SP G Srinivasan along with a big police contingent has rushed to the spot. Situation continues to be tense with heavy police and RAF personnel being deployed in the area, the SP said.
