Itanagar, Oct 23 (UNI) The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) has requested all the employers -- private and government -- in the state to honour the labour and industrial laws and consider the workers' grievances.

A release issued by the union here today stated that it would be compelled to take action under the Industries Disputes Act, 1947, against those violating the labour laws.

In an eight-point memorandum submitted to the Union Labour Minister, the AAPWU requested that the employers must provide essential amenities to contract labourers, pay bonus every year, respect the Fatal Accident, Workmen Compensation and Life Insurance Acts, and provide employment provision funds on time, besides registering and renewing contractor's licences on time.

It also pointed out that the Factories Act, 1948, was general in nature and sought a remedy to the defects contained therein regarding the health, safety and general welfare of the labourers.
