Ahmedabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Taking a direct confrontation path with the Election Commission, Gujarat BJP today alleged that it was dancing to the tunes of the Congress, heading the UPA Government at the Centre.

State BJP general secretary Jayantibhai Barot told mediapersons that the EC's interference in Gujarat administration was at the behest of the opposition Congress to favour it in the coming elections.

The EC had issued transfer orders of several senior IPS and IAS officers, including Director General of Police, P C Pande, recently in Gujarat.

Mr Barot alleged that the EC was adopting a biased and double standard approach against the Gujarat government compared to Himachal Pradesh, where the assembly elections are also scheduled in December.

He further alleged that the Election Commission had not issued single transfer orders of IPS and IAS officers in Himachal Pradesh while in Gujarat it had ordered transfers of many officials to create a 'threatening atmosphere' for the administrative officials.

Barot said EC's certain directives were for Gujarat Government only, while there was no such initiative against the Himachal Pradesh government. He referred to removal of Chief Minister Narendra Modi's photographs from state government's official website but no such directives were issued for Himchal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
